Why should you use UPS Web-Pac ?
bulletBecause it is easy to use, default configuration will automatically shutdown your computer when necessary
bulletBecause it can be used with XML- Web Card providing 3 phase Monitoring information
bulletBecause it has been developped with recent network technologies (SSL/JAVA/XML/ ...) that offer following possibilities :
- Up to 250 protected machines with XML-Agent
- Up to 50 protected machines per XML-Web Card
- Network Security (SSL / Password access / keys ...) is integrated on this offer to prevent unexpected shutdown actions (more about SSL security)
- Updated List of connected applications (including summary of shutdown parameters for each application)
- XML-Client Silent Installation Process (package can be pre-configured and then installed without user interaction. This feature is ideal for large configurations)
- New: Customizable installation package : for easier deployement of the software with specific parameters, a customized package can be created by the administrator and duplicated on as many machines as required
- Central configuration (from a computer you can configure a group of servers)
- Software is fully compatible with flexible Network Architecture based on DNS and DHCP for IP addressing
- New: Events & actions configuration interface

More about UPS Web-Pac
UPS Web-Pac includes two components that use the XML/HTTP protocol form the basis of UPS Web-Pac:
> XML @gent manages communication with the UPS (as well as local protection of the machine on which it is installed if it is a software agent).
> XML-Client protects the computer systems
and launches user-defined actions for selected events (including notification by e-mail/SMS or pager). It runs using the resources of a Java JVM virtual machine installed on the protected machine.
A third component, a standard element on your machine, is your internet browser which is used to monitor the UPS.

XML agents :
> periodically access the information concerning your UPS from MGE UPS SYSTEMS;
> make this information available to http clients;
> send notifications for certain events.
> Operation may be in standard secure mode (the default mode) or in SSL secure mode (Secure Socket Layer SSL).

The XML agents may be either:
> a software agent (XML-@gent);
> an embedded agent (XML-Web Card).

XML-Client :
> continuously waits for information from the XML agent (XML-@gent or XML-Web Card) connected to the MGE UPS;
> warns administrators and users about power alarms through network broadcast or E-mail/SMS/pager
> launches user-defined actions for selected events
>
proceeds with system shutdown before the end of battery backup power is reached.
